Monday through Thursday students spend the morning in class from 9:00–11:30am learning the central program topics. On Fridays students meet in groups of four or five to work on research topics.
After lunch students work on the daily problem sets and continue until 3:30pm in the afternoon. During that time the teaching assistants meet individually with students in 20 to 60 minute sessions to go over the problem set from the previous day.
The late afternoon is dedicated to recreational and social activities, and twice a week this time is used for an afternoon guest lecture.
Each weekend there is one field trip day and one day on which students participate in extra activities on the Stanford campus.
